A new office for Brave Journeys in Ellon

It is with a real sense of excitement and pride that I can finally share the news – Brave Journeys now has a permanent home right here in the heart of Ellon. THRIVE, Ellon is soon to be open at 125 Station Road, and it is more than just an office. It is a space where people can come to feel safe, heard and supported.

THRIVE, Ellon – A New Chapter for Brave Journeys and Our Community

This is a huge moment for me personally and for Brave Journeys as a whole. From the very beginning, my mission has been to take mental health seriously and to challenge the stigma that still surrounds it. THRIVE will not only be my base for counselling, but also a place where other therapists can offer their expertise. Together, we want to make sure that anyone in Ellon – and beyond – knows there is somewhere to turn when life feels overwhelming.

The building itself has a history woven into the fabric of our town. When I was a wee lad growing up here, I remember it as the local butcher’s shop. Over the years it has been home to Country Flowers, a pet grooming salon and, more recently, a beauty salon run by Michelle Walker.

Now, it is ready to begin a new chapter, one I am honoured to be part of.

Bringing THRIVE to the community I grew up in feels incredibly special. Ellon has always been my home, and being able to offer something credible is important to me. Having worked in the Ellon School cluster for about 8 years I got to know the community quite well and met some amazing young people, who had experience some really challenging and difficult circumstances. This counselling space has been in my head for such a long time and I know that seeking help can feel daunting, and money can sometimes be a barrier. That is why I have created the Access for All fund, which can provide part or fully funded counselling sessions for those who need it. No one should be denied the chance to heal and grow because of financial circumstances.

THRIVE, Ellon is here for you. Whether you need support yourself, know someone who might benefit, or are a fellow therapist looking for a welcoming space to work from, my door is open.

Let’s continue to talk about mental health, to listen without judgement, and to build a stronger, kinder community together.
